Stitch Tuesday – Pistachio Shell

We are just a few weeks away from Christmas! I hope everyone is done or is close to finishing up gifts. One of my favorite things is all the nut mixes which get put out during Christmas parties. The most favorite nut of all being pistachio. The fact that it’s in a shell makes it even better because you know it’s good when you have to work for it. This pattern is similar in that way. You have to pay close attention to it at the beginning, but once you do a few rows you get into a groove. Here is how it’s done:

Shell (sh): [(dc, ch 1) 3 times, dc] in st indicated

V-Stitch (v-st): [dc, ch 1, dc] in st indicated

Ch multiple of 8 plus 2

  1. Sc in 2nd ch from hk, *ch 1, sk 3 ch, sh in next ch, ch 1, sk 3 ch, sc in next ch; repeat from * across, turn
  2. Ch 3, dc in same sc, * ch 2, sk 2 ch-1 sps, [sc, ch 1, sc] in the next ch-1 sp, ch 2, sk next 2 ch-1 sps, v-st in next sc; repeat from * across to last sc, 2 dc in last sc, turn
  3. Ch 3, [dc, ch 1, dc] in 1st dc, ch 1, *sk ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk ch-2 sp, sh in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; repeat from * across to last ch-1, sc in last ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk ch-2 sp, [dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in top of t-ch, turn
  4. Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st dc, *ch 2, sk 2 ch-1 sps, v-st in next sc, sk 2 ch-1 sps, ch 2, [sc, ch 1, sc] in next ch-1 sp; repeat from * across to last sh, ch 2, sk 2 ch-1 sps, v-st in last sc, sk 2 ch-1 sps, ch 2, 2 sc in top of t-ch, turn
  5. Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, *ch 1, sk ch-2 sp, sh in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk ch-2 sp, sc in next ch-1 sp; repeat from * across to last sc, sc in last sc, turn

Repeat rows 2-5 to desired length
