Gardenia Taitensis ‘Double’ – Double Tahitian Fragrant Flowering Bush
A highly sought-after tropical evergreen shrub with huge 5–6" creamy-white flowers and an intoxicating sweet fragrance — a cross between jasmine and apple that blooms year-round at maturity.
The Gardenia taitensis 'Double' (also known as 'Heaven Scent') is a tropical evergreen shrub that produces enormous, creamy-white double flowers with a fragrance that's genuinely unforgettable. At maturity it blooms all year and can grow up to 60 feet tall in the right conditions. These are young plants best kept in containers for a few years to ensure optimal environmental conditions. Grows well outdoors in zones 9–11. Available in 4" or 6" nursery pot.
What I love about it
The Double Tahitian Gardenia is the flowering plant that makes your whole garden smell like a luxury resort. The flowers are enormous — 5 to 6 inches across — and the fragrance is a sweet, complex blend of jasmine and apple that carries beautifully on warm evenings. At maturity it blooms continuously, which means months of fragrance and beauty from a single plant. Keep it in a container while young to control its environment, then move it outdoors in warm climates as it establishes.
