Thuja Virginian™ Arborvitae
A fast, dense privacy screen with the rich green color of Western red cedar in a tidy, space-saving footprint.
Thuja Virginian™ is an evergreen arborvitae bred from the same family that gave us the famous Green Giant. It carries soft, flat sprays of deep green foliage on a tight, upright, pyramidal frame, growing at a moderate, manageable pace to about 14 ft. tall and only 6 ft. wide. That narrow profile makes it ideal where you want height and screening without a plant that sprawls into the yard, the driveway, or the neighbor's fence line.
What I love about it
Thuja Virginian is the privacy screen for tight spaces. At just 6 feet wide at maturity, it gives you a tall, dense green wall in side yards, narrow property lines, and spots where a wider conifer simply won't fit. The deep green foliage holds its color through winter — no bronzing, no fading — and branches hold foliage all the way to the ground so the screen stays solid at eye level. It takes shearing beautifully for a formal hedge or can be left to grow naturally. Adaptable, hardy to Zone 5, and genuinely low-maintenance once established. If you need a tall, narrow screen, this is your tree.
