A visually striking succulent that lacks most of its chlorophyll — giving it a ghostly white appearance that's genuinely unlike anything else in the succulent world.

The Euphorbia Lactea 'White Ghost' (also called Dragon Bones) is a fully rooted, architectural succulent with a unique white-to-pale-green coloring caused by a natural lack of chlorophyll. The result is a plant that looks almost otherworldly — sculptural, dramatic, and completely at home in a modern or minimalist space. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it thrives on neglect in a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Available in 4" or 6" nursery pot, Marie Terracotta Planter, or Whitney Terracotta Planter.

What I love about it

The White Ghost is the succulent that makes people stop and ask what it is. The ghostly white coloring is the result of a natural chlorophyll deficiency — not a cultivated trait — which gives it an organic, almost alien quality. It's architectural and sculptural in a way that most succulents aren't, and it works beautifully as a standalone statement plant or as a contrast piece in a mixed succulent display. Same easy care as any Euphorbia: full sun, well-draining soil, water thoroughly and then forget about it for a few weeks.

Plant Care Tips

  • ☀️ Light: Full sun to bright indirect — the more sun, the better
  • 💧 Water: Water only when soil is completely dry; water deeply then let drain fully
  • 🧪 Soil: Well-draining cactus or succulent mix; add perlite for extra drainage
  • 🪴 Difficulty: Easy — better to underwater than overwater
  • 🐾 Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs; sap can irritate skin — handle with gloves
