Bellini® Strawberry Crape Myrtle
Vivid strawberry-pink blooms all summer long on a compact, disease-resistant crape myrtle that fits any yard — big color in a manageable size.
The Bellini® Strawberry Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia 'Bellini Strawberry') is a compact, multi-stemmed crape myrtle bred for outstanding disease resistance, a tidy habit, and a long season of vivid strawberry-pink blooms. From midsummer through fall it produces large clusters of crinkled, bright pink flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds and hold their color through the heat. The attractive exfoliating bark adds winter interest, and the fall foliage turns brilliant orange-red before dropping. At a manageable size it fits foundation plantings, mixed borders, and small yards where a full-size crape myrtle would overwhelm the space.
What I love about it
The Bellini® series was bred to fix the problems that plague older crape myrtles — powdery mildew, aphids, and the temptation to "crape murder" them every winter. This variety is genuinely disease-resistant, naturally compact, and blooms prolifically without any pruning. The strawberry-pink color is vivid and warm — not the washed-out pink of some varieties — and it holds through the hottest summer weather. Plant it in full sun, give it decent drainage, and it will reward you with months of color and almost no maintenance. The right crape myrtle for the right space.
